Adapt to equipment space and simplify equipment design

A turntable that operates at a constant pitch is being considered for use in the production process of small products such as electronic components. However, combining the servo motor and reducer to be used will result in a combination of concentric shafts, which raises concerns that the axial dimension will become large and the overall size of the device will increase. Therefore, it was necessary to use another rotation mechanism to lower the turntable and make the overall device smaller.

Solution/Countermeasure

Aiming to miniaturize the entire device, we considered using a PDW, a cam-type indexing device with a motor.

The PDW is an indexing device with an orthogonal axis rather than a concentric axis, and we considered using it because we could reduce its height by orthogonally orienting the motor's mounting axis to the side of the output surface.

Effects/Benefits

By adopting the PDW, it was possible to reduce the height of the equipment, and the company succeeded in making the entire equipment smaller.

In addition, the PDW is a unit that integrates the indexing mechanism, reduction mechanism, and motor, which also contributed to reducing the amount of work required to design the equipment. Furthermore, the PDW mechanically indexes using a camshaft, and by using the product optional brake pack when performing the stopping operation, the motor can be easily controlled, which also contributed to reducing the amount of work required for control design.
