Reducing Costs for Flammable Solvent Filling Equipment
An explosion-proof motor was used as the drive mechanism for the index table of a flammable solvent filling system. However, this resulted in high costs and an increased number of components. The challenge was to replace the existing mechanism with one that is more cost-effective, simpler, and still compliant with explosion-proof environments.
Solution/Countermeasure
The adoption of the Mini Table MT, a pneumatically driven table-type indexing unit, was considered. By replacing the drive section with the MT, the use of electrical components such as explosion-proof motors and motor amplifiers could be eliminated, leading to a reduction in parts costs. In addition, since the MT uses pneumatic control via a solenoid valve for indexing, the equipment can be designed without motors, making it fully compliant with explosion-proof environments.
Effects/Benefits
By adopting the MT Series, the use of electrical components such as explosion-proof motors was eliminated, resulting in significant cost savings. Furthermore, the simple and compact design allowed the overall equipment layout to be streamlined and decluttered.
The MT Series employs a two-stage indexing mechanism: indexing is first performed by a cam, followed by precise positioning using a locate pin. Despite being pneumatically controlled, this mechanism achieves high-precision positioning, making it a practical replacement for servo motor-driven systems without any issues.
