TCG Runner for Heavy-Load Conveying Applications (Chain Drive Replacement)

An elevator manufacturer used a costly and complex chain-driven system to convey floor panels. While alternative conveying methods had been considered, the heavy load caused backlash-related positioning errors in conventional gear mechanisms, leading to misalignment at stopping points, downstream process issues, and potential damage to the floor panels. Consequently, alternative systems had not been adopted.

Solution/Countermeasure

The reinforced TCG Runner (CPC/CRC Type) was evaluated for this application. Compared with the conventional CPA/CRA Type, the CPC/CRC Type offers significantly improved load capacity and allowable torque.

By considering the adoption of the reinforced TCG Runner, several advantages were expected over conventional chain-driven heavy-load conveying systems, including backlash-free operation, highly accurate positioning, smooth acceleration and deceleration, and reduced maintenance requirements.

Effects/Benefits

The adoption of the TCG Runner eliminated play and positioning instability during floor panel transfer, while its smooth conveying motion enabled seamless transfer to the next process. As a result, issues such as scratches and damage to the floor panels were significantly reduced.
In addition, the TCG Runner's low-wear and long-life characteristics, combined with reduced grease application requirements, substantially lowered maintenance efforts and overall operating costs.
